Amelia Golden is a New York City–based writer, director, cinematographer, video editor, photographer, and multidisciplinary artist.

Golden’s practice explores shifting queer utopias and the social, spatial, and sensory architectures that shape how we connect. Over the past several years, they have documented artists, writers, performers, and choreographers within New York’s downtown cultural landscape, including ongoing work with dancers and choreographers such as Juliana May and Miguel Gutierrez, while developing an ongoing body of work.

Their video editing work will be featured at the 2026 Venice Biennale in Tamar Ettun’s short film IVF Documents, curated by Barbara London for What’s in a Story? presented by CYFEST.

As an editor, they have collaborated with artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Kehinde Wiley, Duke Riley, Avram Finkelstein, and Miguel Gutierrez, and with institutions such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Taschen. They have worked as an assistant editor on a feature film and as an additional editor on another. Their work has been presented by the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Arts and Design, On the Boards, and across multiple performance platforms.

As a cinematographer, they have worked with artists including Joey Soloway and Miguel Gutierrez, with work presented by organizations including New York Live Arts, the Poetry Project, and Creative Capital.

Their portrait and editorial photography has appeared in publications including The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Tank Magazine, Dazed, and The Times (London), as well as for institutions including The Shed, Times Square Arts, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York Live Arts, NYU Skirball, Pratt Institute, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

Golden has written and directed short films and music videos, including a recent short film that premiered at the Emily Harvey Foundation as part of Abscissa #3, curated by Max Levin, and continues to work across film and photography.
